We had a nice dinner out for Matt’s birthday. He came home yesterday since he is off the next two days. He will also be deciding where he wants to be transfered to. Once he decides and gets his letter faxed he will have 5 days to get there. Right now he is leaning more towards Amarillo, but that could change.

It’s hard to believe Kalli is starting her senior year today  She had her bestfriend over to spend the night last night and they are going to school together today. In recent years I never would have allowed this but hey it’s the last year so I can be a little relaxed about these things.

We don’t really have any plans today since we just took a 4 day trip to the Hill Country. See previous post if you missed it. August is our busy month of birthdays. Other than mine and Rudy’s birthday and anniversary this month we also have my dad and niece’ birthday on the 21st, and Matt’s on the 26th.

We’re Home

August 19th, 2008

First, I want to say thank you to everyone for your e-cards, gifts, and birthday and anniversary wishes! What a wonderful trip Rudy and I had to the Hill Country! I didn’t add any pics to my blog but there is a link below to my flickr photo and you can click on the Hill Country 2008 set to view the pics. We did change things up a bit than what I had mapped out and posted in my previous entry. We first went to Salado where I found several Christmas presents and was thrilled to have already started my Christmas shopping in August! We then headed to Austin stopping by McKinney Falls State Park on the way. The sign that read, “Water is low, no refunds!” should have told us something because I could only find two very small water falls since there has been no rain. We left there and was stuck in traffic for over 2 hours because of a wreck. A while back Rudy and I were watching the travel channel and they were talking about Black’s BBQ in Austin so that is where we went to eat and it did not disappoint. After dinner we headed downtown Austin to 6th Street which is similar to Bourbon Street in New Orleans but a lot milder. The later it got the wilder! We did stop off at a few bars to listen to music and they were all really good, but our favorite place was the Piano Bar. You could request any song and they would play it on the piano and sing along. We went to one of these in New Orleans on our honeymoon. Everyone there seemed to be having a wonderful time but there was one fella who had had a little too much to drink and was having a high ole time, lol! He entertained us as much as muscians.
