The destruction that Hurricane Katrina has left behind is just devastating and has left me speechless. I cannot imagine what those families are going through. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who has been affected. Monday night we had “Meet The Teacher Night” at Kalli’s school. She is doing very well in all subjects and was highly praised by all of her teachers. :D That is something a parent always enjoys hearing. Matthew’s first day of college went very smoothly and he was able to find all of his classes without any trouble. I got my new glasses yesterday and I’m not sure if I like them. Maybe I just need to get use to the them as they are very light, but I feel like I am always pushing them up even though they fit snuggly. I think it is because the frames are so small and I’m seeing over the top of them sometimes. I wonder if they will let me change out the frames at a minimal fee if I can’t use to these things. I hate to be out that kind of money. These things were not cheap. I guess I will try them a little while and see if I can get use to them. Today, is house cleaning day and clean sheet day so I better get off here and get busy. They will be delivering our new chair this afternoon. Hugs to all!

Happy Birthday Matthew! He turned 19 yesterday but I couldn’t get my entry to post yesterday for some reason. This is all of our celebrations until February. Matthew starts college on Monday and will be traveling back and forth until the 9th when he and a friend get to move into their apartment. Please keep him in your prayers for safe travel.
He will attend classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and will continue working with Rudy on Tuesday and Thursday for the time being. They will be delivering our chair on Wednesday (Rudy’s birthday gift), but you noticed I said “our” chair, lol! It has been so hot and in the high 90’s everyday. I tried to work in the yard early this morning and also on Thursday morning and at 7 am it is already so hot and humid. Just miserable. I gave up today and decided to swim instead, but even the water is really warm. I’m ready for cooler temps. My eye appointment went well on Wednesday and I only had to go up one notch in my contacts and glass prescription in the right eye only, but that meant I had to get new glasses. I am still seeing 20/20 with corrective lenses thank goodness! Right now it is cloudy and I can hear thunder in the background so hopefully we will get some rain to cool things down a bit. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Hugs to you all!

Tomorrow, Aug 23, is Rudy’s 40th birthday! Happy Birthday my dear sweet husband. I am cooking his birthday dinner and his menu, as requested includes steaks on the grill, baked potatoes with all the trimmings, sauteed mushrooms, green salad, and Pina Colada Cake for dessert. Also, tomorrow Matthew signs up for the Fall semester college classes at TVCC in Athens. He is looking into Real Estate, but not sure. He will be moving around September 9th into an apartment in Athens, which is only about 70 miles from us. I am so glad he is not going too far. I am just not ready for that yet, but I know the day is coming.

Sorry for the long delay in blog entries!
I want to say thank you to everyone for the birthday tags, emails, gifts, and e-cards. I am truly blessed with lots of wonderful and caring online friends. I had planned on posting all of my goodies here, but there are so many so I decided I would make a page and provide a link from here, but I still need to do that. I had a great birthday with lots of gifts from my family. Rudy gave me a dozen red roses and a rod and reel, LOL! The rod and reel is what I told him I wanted when he asked. I am in the mood to take up fishing, but will have to wait until it cools down a bit. My son Matthew and his girlfriend gave me a beautiful iron wine rack decorted with grapes and grapevines along with a bottle of sparkling cider. My daughter Kalli and her boyfriend gave me a very pretty candle holder stand that holds 3 lanterns with tealight candles. My dad came by on my birthday and took me out to lunch then the rest of my family took me out to dinner. They surprised me with a birthday cake afterwards. I was truly spoiled rotten this year. Kalli has had a great first week of high school, but we have been busy getting all of her school supplies. Here at our school in middle and high school you don’t buy school supplies until after school starts and you get a list from each teacher. I believe we have gone shopping for supplies every day this week and today will go and get the things she needs for tennis. She is loving Spanish and comes home everyday practicing her letters and vowels. I have to laugh when I hear her in the shower singing her ABC’s in Spanish. Her Spanish teacher is the one she had in 1st & 2nd grade and has always loved her as a teacher. I have a very busy week coming up starting with Saturday, which is mine and Rudy’s 17th anniversary. Sunday is my dad’s and nieces birthday. Tuesday is Rudy’s birthday, Wednesday is Kalli’s boyfriends b-day, and Friday is Matthew’s birthday. Whew, then we have a break until February, which is Kalli’s. She has one all to herself.

We have had a very lazy weekend. Yesterday, Rudy and Matt went to Jacksonville, about 30 miles from here to ride 4-wheelers so Kalli and I went to the library, browsed around “Old Town”, and went to dinner. Today, we went to church and had a luncheon afterwards. On our way to church the skies were clear and sunny with only a 30% chance of rain, but after returning home the rain came - it poured. A good day to watch movies. We watched “Hostage” with Bruce Willis and “Sliding Doors” with Gwyneth Paltrow - two very good movies. Don’t forget tonight is “Beach Girls” on Lifetime. Tomorrow is the first day of high school for my daughter Kalli! I can’t believe it is already that time.
