School Has Officially Started

We got our materials on Monday afternoon from Alpha Omega so Kalli was able to begin her lessons yesterday. We have 3 teachers in our sorority group and after hearing some of the horrid details Monday night about a party that went on over the weekend with some of the teens I am even more proud of Kalli for making the decision to be home schooled. Speaking of sorority…several have asked if my sorority is from college and the answer is no. My sorority is called Alpha Theta Psi and I was asked in when I worked at the elementary school here in Elkhart. This is my tenth year to be a member. We make money by having fundraisers each year and the funds made go to the homeless shelter at Thanksgiving, a family or two in need at Christmas, scholarship at the end of the school year, and then we help out families in the middle of crisis such as losing their home to fire, tornadoes, etc. We also give to the Women’s Crisis Center in Palestine.

Tonight we have our first sorority meeting for this year. We haven’t met since May so I am ready to get back to having our girlfriend get-togethers twice a month! I need to go get a gift for our opening day but it is optional, so if I don’t find time it is no big deal. Kalli’s materials from Alpha Omega should be here today. Yesterday, we went to the Sunday School rally and then church, and then a luncheon afterwards. Matt’s birthday dinner turned out well and he had a few friends come over to eat. They cleaned out the food pretty much, which was good…no tempations with left overs. Not much else to report. Have a blessed day.
Happy Birthday Matt! It is hard to believe I have 20-year-old son! He has requested my homemade pizza for his birthday dinner and monster cookie for dessert. This is the last of our birthdays until February. Well, I am off here to go get started cooking. Have a blessed day!
It has been a busy week with work and getting Kalli’s schedule set up. She starts on Monday and I’m still thinking I need to change up some things on her schedule, but the counselor said I could do that anytime. After looking at the Texas Education Association and seeing the requirements for graduation she will need at least 3 more credits than what AO requires and some of the subjects she needs that will help with the TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge Skills) test she needs before or during her junior year to help her pass the TAKS. She has to pass the TAKS in order to go to any Texas colleges. The good thing is I think we have it all figured out. I am so happy it is Friday. We have slight chances of rain all weekend and I wish it would just pour down. I think I am going to go get movies and we will probably just have take-out for dinner. Have a blessed day!
