Slow Work Week

Published by Tracey under Entertainment, Everyday Life, Family, Work

The clinic I work for has moved into a new building that was just built and the doctors are behind on their dictation. I picked up a little bit of work yesterday and have already finished it so I think I am going to start on my house cleaning. I host sorority here at my house next Monday night and I don’t want to leave everything to the weekend. Besides, when the doctors get caught up on their dictation I will be very busy and that will probably mean working this weekend. Matt called yesterday morning on his way to school to tell me it had snowed overnight. He said there are 2 classes for the conductor training and in his class there are 18 and all being male except for one female who is in her 50’s, and then the other class has 24 students.

He Made It!

Published by Tracey under Everyday Life, Family

Matt left here Sunday morning at 7:30 and made it to his hotel room in Overland Park, Kansas at 5:30 PM only stopping twice for gas. He didn’t get lost any along the way. I never did make it to dad’s yesterday. I couldn’t be away from the phone that long in case Matt ran into trouble along the way. I am going today since the clinic I work for took Friday and today off to move to a new clinic that just opened. My dad is doing really good and says he hasn’t felt this good in a long time. I think this will be a better week for us! Yesterday, after I had a check in with Matt, and made sure Rudy had his cell phone and the house phone strapped to him, Kalli and I took a 2 mile walk. The weather was perfect as was the conversation. It was a good time to do some mother/daughter bonding. :twirl:

Family Update

Published by Tracey under Everyday Life, Family

My dad’s cardiologist confirmed that he did not have a heart attack afterall but severe bronchitis. His lungs were full of fluid and he said they may have been pushing up against the heart causing the chest pains or the pain was actually coming from the lungs being so full. When he coughed he said it felt like a knife stabbing him in the chest all the way through to his back. When I saw him Thursday morning my heart sank…he looked so old and frail sitting there but by the afternoon he looked much more healthier and the pain he had been having when he coughed was better. I was there when his pulmonologist came in I had good vibes about her. She was very thorough and actually talked to him in a language so he could understand exactly what was going on. She took her time to examine him and go over his complete medical history. Wasn’t one of those rush in and right back out jobs. He was released from the hospital last night and Rudy and I were there to bring him home. He sounded really good this morning when I talked to him and I am going down tomorrow to do a bit of laundry and house cleaning for him. Today, we are finishing up getting Matt ready to leave in the morning. He was supposed to leave this morning but with all that was going on I just couldn’t get everything together. So yes, he has decided on the railroad instead of the other job offer and I just checked the weather in Overland Park, Kansas and it is nice and sunny today and the next few days with a high in the 50’s so that is a worry off my mind. Living in Texas all of our life we are not accustomed to driving in snow/sleet conditions. I will get around to returning visits just as soon as I can. Thank you all for your prayers and concerns for my family. It is such a great comfort knowing people are out there praying for your situation. Love and blessings to each one of you

MIA

Published by Tracey under Everyday Life, Family

Sorry to have gone MIA but it has been one crazy week. My dad had a mild heart attack yesterday and was transported from ETMC in Crockett to ETMC in Tyler to be close to his cardiologist. He was doing fine last night and no more chest pains after the nitroglycerin and morphine they gave him. I’m not sure yet what the cause of it was but hopefully I will have more details after my visit with him today. Matt and I are going up this morning to be with him. On top of that, Matt got a job offer that he is trying to decide if he wants to take or still go to railroad school, which he will have to leave on Saturday to be ready for classes Monday morning if he decides on the school. And on top of that the transmission went out in his truck yesterday so we have it in the shop to be fixed but it will not be ready by Saturday. He will have to either take my vehicle or Rudy’s and when his is fixed we will drive to Kansas or meet him halfway to trade with him. I am beginning to wonder if these are all signs that he should not go right now :???: I feel this will be a good opportunity for him, and conductors do make really good money. The job offer he got would be a nice income too so either way is fine with me. I just told him to think about what he would enjoy doing and make money because they are both good paying jobs. Please keep my dad and Matt in your prayers. I will update as soon as I can.

Where Did The Weekend Go?

Published by Tracey under Church, Everyday Life, Family

After church yesterday we went out for lunch at Little Mexico and then came home and I did two loads of laundry and then took an hour nap. After that my day seemed to be shot. I don’t like taking naps unless they are just power naps because it’s hard for me to get going again. Rudy and I didn’t finish Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years the night before because it was so long but we did finish it up after our nap yesterday. Lazy Sunday huh? The Outlaw Years is picking up two years after where the hit miniseries “Lonsome Dove” left off, this spin-off follows Newt Call after the tragic death of his wife. I didn’t even know this one existed until we saw my brother last month when they were here and he was telling us about it. I checked on Netflix and have all of the LD movies lined up. I am helping out another clinic this week so I have to pick up work from them this AM and then my regular work that I do daily, I will pick up this afternoon. It will be busy but the extra money will come in handy as always.
