I got word yesterday that our dear friend Nancze is in the hospital. Please keep her in prayer. I finished my work early yesterday so I met Rudy for lunch, along with Kalli and her friend Nicole since they got out of school early. When I got home I cleaned up the deck from the debris left from the storm on Tuesday and hung all of the cushions out in the sun to dry. The bird feeders were low so I refilled them and made humming bird food. While that was cooling I scrubbed and cleaned their feeders. I made a pot of tea and headed out on the deck in my swimsuit with the newspaper to catch a few rays. It was really nice out. I did get some sun and never broke a sweat!

With the holiday on Monday I am off track with my blog posts! This is Kalli’s last week of school. She gets out at 10 today and tomorrow since she is exempted from all of her exams. She keeps telling me on Saturday she will officially be a senior. She has applied at several places for a summer job so keep her in prayer for that! I had to deactivate my shoutbox because of all of the spam I was getting. At least 25 to 30 a day and I got tired of deleting so it will stay deactivated until I decide to try another one or just delete it all together. Oh, but since I deactivated it I am now getting more spam comments on my posts! Not as many as the shoutbox, but I’m still getting them and of course there is the endless updating of wordpress. I just updated now there is another one to update too! Can you tell I am a little annoyed with wordpress right now?! Sorry for the bummer of a post. I have a new poll up so vote before you leave.

I finally got those old pics scanned to my computer with Kat’s help! Thank you, Kat!! With the pics I made three scrapbook pages. I tried to put them here on my blog but there was too much resizing needing to be done that you couldn’t tell much about them. If you want to view them you can click on my Flickr over to the left or go here. These pages were made with Smilebox which all you have to do is drag your photos into the already made templates. So easy and they do have some really cute templates. I have gone a bit further and have been trying my hand at digital scrapbooking making my own pages from scratch using a free 30-day trial of Photoshop and some free digital scrapbook kits from Shabby Princess and they have video tutorials too. Just a word of warning…it’s very addictive! I will share pics when I have something completed.

Congrats to the newest American Idol David Cook! What a great season and finale! Seeing and hearing ZZ Top sure brought back memories. Kalli couldn’t believe I knew the song Sharp Dressed Man! That song was so popular during my club hopping days. Wednesday evening Rudy and I grilled chicken and flank steak and had fajitas out on the deck. Even with the warmer temps it is pretty nice outside in the evenings. I got the kitchen cleaned up just in time for AI. After picking up work yesterday I stopped by Spring Street Nursery and picked up some caladiums to plant in the rock flowerbed in the front yard and a few to plant in my whiskey barrel on the deck. Grey’s was really good last night and that brings all of my shows to a close for the summer.

According to my poll David Cook should be the next American Idol. Guess we will find out tonight! All of my favorite shows are coming to an end and the season finales have all been really good. Matt called me when he got off work yesterday so say he had survived his 12-hour shift and got to ride on the train for a good part of the day. That part he really liked and then Kalli called in the afternoon on her way home from school. She was so excited to tell me she had passed all of her TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) testing. Passing these test to graduate is mandatory in the state of Texas. If you don’t pass by May of your 12th grade year you do not get to graduate with your class. You can however take the test as many times as needed to get your diploma. She is so thrilled it is all behind her now and nothing keeping her from graduating next year! These test are extremely hard. I wish they would do away with them because I don’t think it is fair for a child who has all of their credits to graduate but cannot pass the TAKS so therefore doesn’t get to walk across the stage with their classmates.
